History
Originally dedicated to the biannual Big Sandy Machine-Gun Shoot, the range has expanded to include government contractor weapon ammunition and vehicle testing, experimental combat tactics and hosted large format live-fire product display events. Numbers of film and video productions have used the range as a film location, in addition to demolitions and research. Audio recordings for media and video game services have also taken place on the range.
The Big Sandy Test Center supports many diverse activities that require the rough outdoors such as survival and orienteering training, off road vehicle trials and races.

Ballistic Testing
Our test center has hosted a wide range of small to intermediate caliber munitions and delivery systems for beta testing, client demonstration, endurance, real world training and operations. From the primary firing line there is 0-1,000 meter range to the impact zone. A 2000 meter range is also available in certain conditions.

Government approved SOP storage and handling of ammunition and explosives is maintained at all times.

Moving Target System
The Big Sandy Test Center is proud to announce the installation of a moving target system to the range facility.
The targets cycle on 100 meter (330 foot) track, at 8, 12, and 19 mph. The moving target can be engaged at up to 1,500 meters
(1,640 yards).
Testing
Vehicle Testing and Driving Courses
Driving routes, trails, highly demanding 4-wheel drive overland courses designed to test the abilities of your vehicle. Steep angles of approach and departure on sandy, loose ground are available as well as opportunities for testing high ascent and decent angles. The course can be ran at speed, with live fire testing, mobile firearms and equipment.
Aircraft Testing and Aerial Gunnery
Because of the isolated location, there are no FAA flight zone restrictions on the property. Manned aerial gunnery, ground to air, or air to ground can both be safely utilized on site. Training, practice and skill testing of target engagement whether they be flying, stationary, or moving along the ground are available. Electronic warfare, countermeasures, defensive/offensive techniques, strategies and experimental testing can be utilized on this range. Test and evaluate defensive engagement of unmanned aircraft, via ballistic or radio jamming systems.
